Espacio Ciencia celebrates children’s month with special activities and a renewed escape room
LATU’s interactive science and technology museum is adding unique activities to celebrate with families.
As part of Children’s Month, Espacio Ciencia is open Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., welcoming children and families with a program full of science, creativity, and fun.
LATU’s interactive science and technology museum, located in LATU’s Innovation Park (Av. Saldún de Rodríguez 2037), features five thematic areas ranging from human perception to computational thinking, as well as the value of water as a key resource for life, the ecosystems that make up Uruguay, energy, and the well-known superheroes of physics, among many other attractions.
Special activities this Saturday the 15th, ahead of Children’s Day:
- Drawing Robot (Maker workshop for children aged 6 and up): offered in two sessions, at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., each lasting one hour. Prior registration is required by sending a WhatsApp message to 092 174 955. This activity has an additional cost of UYU 300 per robot, on top of admission.
- Face Painting Station: available throughout the afternoon (fixed stand). For children aged 3 and up, at no additional cost.
New escape room: challenge your knowledge of physics
Escape Mode is a playful experience designed for teenagers and their families, inviting participating teams (with members aged 12 and over) to solve a series of scientific challenges in order to prevent a bomb from exploding.
During the activity, participants will need to use all their senses, move around the room in search of clues, sort through different objects, and above all keep an eye on the clock: after 45 minutes, if they have not achieved the goal, a huge blast will take over the room.
This is a renewed proposal featuring physics-based challenges, following the success of its previous edition focused on chemistry.
Permanent spaces you won’t want to miss
- Mushroom Mode, a space to delve into the fascinating Fungi Kingdom.
- Eco Space, an “insect hotel” located in the outdoor garden that shelters these creatures and small birds in their natural habitat.
- Micro Mode, an interactive adventure to explore the microscopic world and discover the secrets of cell biology.
Astro Espacio: a new immersive journey through the Universe
The new exhibition combines science, technology, and interactive experiences to bring knowledge about space to audiences of all ages, from 6 years old and up.
It includes an immersive audiovisual experience that transports visitors through galaxies, stars, and planets, allowing them to explore the Universe in a captivating and surprising way. It also features interactive modules that enable visitors to discover the characteristics of the Solar System, understand the properties of the planets, and learn about astronomical phenomena in a dynamic and participatory way.
Among the main highlights are virtual reality headset experiences, offering the chance to take part in a unique journey through space.
It sparks curiosity, encourages learning, and brings astronomy and space exploration closer through innovative tools that combine entertainment, education, and science communication.
Tickets
General admission tickets cost UYU 420 and can be purchased at Abitab outlets and online. Those with Plan Abis can access a 2-for-1 promotion. Children up to and including 4 years old enter free of charge. Please note that one responsible adult must accompany every six children under the age of 12.
