UEU-LATU Sustainable Management Seal: exporting companies deepen eco-design practices to strengthen environmental performance
A virtual training session on eco-design was held for exporting companies as part of the Sustainable Management Seal developed by the Union of Exporters of Uruguay (UEU) and LATU. The session brought together 22 representatives from more than 10 UEU member companies.
On May 8, a virtual training on eco-design took place, organized under the framework of the UEU-LATU Sustainable Management Seal and led by technical teams from LATU and UEU. The activity was attended by representatives from 12 exporting companies, some of which were awarded the Seal in 2023 and 2024, while others have recently begun working on implementing its requirements. The session also welcomed UEU member organizations that have not yet obtained the Seal but are interested in improving their processes.
What is the UEU-LATU Sustainable Management Seal?
This is a tool developed by the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) and the Union of Exporters of Uruguay (UEU) to promote a business culture focused on sustainable development. It publicly recognizes organizations that are committed to this path with transparency and accountability.
The Seal is based on a set of requirements and tools that guide companies in incorporating sustainable practices into their strategies and operations. Its purpose is to enhance business competitiveness by adopting international sustainability standards and fostering continuous improvement in management.
What was covered in the training session?
The training focused on understanding how to incorporate environmental criteria into the design and development of products and services, with the goal of minimizing their impact throughout the life cycle. Topics included eco-design methodology and implementation phases, integration into business processes, circular economy strategies, and environmental analysis tools.
The session aimed to provide practical tools to help companies meet the environmental pillar of the Seal, which promotes comprehensive management that considers governance, social, and environmental aspects.
This activity is part of the technical support offered to companies participating in the program, aiming to strengthen their capabilities and foster a business culture rooted in sustainability and continuous improvement.
A new session is scheduled for June 10, with the goal of reaching even more companies.
