Mype Exporta program: strengthening the export capacity of Uruguayan micro and small enterprises
LATU and the Exporters Union of Uruguay (UEU), with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) and Uruguay XXI, are promoting the Mype Exporta Program. This initiative falls within LATU's policy to support and develop MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and seeks to strengthen the export capacity of Uruguayan micro and small businesses by promoting their productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability.
Program focus
The program is aimed at micro and small enterprises (MYPEs) of goods or services across the country whose products or services are already validated in the market and that hold or qualify for the SME Certificate (Certificado Pyme). It is especially oriented toward those companies that have not exported or have done so only occasionally, prioritizing those that incorporate criteria of technological innovation, sustainability, and social and environmental responsibility.
The program is delivered through a combination of group training sessions and individual technical assistance, jointly designed and implemented by LATU and UEU, and tailored to the needs of the participating companies.
The overall goal is to reach 200 MYPEs sensitized about the export process, provide development support to 25 companies, and strengthen the capacities of 20 technical professionals.
Program milestones
The program was launched in August 2025 during an activity held in the Artigas department as part of Uruguay XXI’s Más Comercio (More Trade) program. Since then, Mype Exporta has actively participated in this cycle of events across different departments, raising awareness and providing mentoring to attending businesses.
Furthermore, on September 5th, the "Canvas for Export" workshop was held, presenting tools for companies to structure their ideas, identify market opportunities, and plan concrete steps for international competition.
On September 29th and October 3rd, a new session focused on sustainability will take place. These activities aim to sensitize and prepare companies to navigate the export path with better tools and capabilities.
In parallel, the Mype Exporta team is conducting diagnostics for companies interested in receiving technical assistance, with the goal of identifying their specific needs and providing the most appropriate support.
