LATU's Innovation Park builds community

Tech Community once again brought together key figures from the LATU Innovation Park community. This edition of the Tech Community event series was held in the hall of the University of Montevideo (UM) building on Campus 2 of the LATU Innovation Park.

On Friday, September 12th, representatives from the various companies and organizations that make up LATU's Innovation Park community gathered for a day of networking, exchange, and reflection.

This was the second edition of Tech Community, which began in June with a kickoff event where the companies Improfit, Vivestar, and Microsoft showcased their work and collaboration models, encouraging complementary relationships among organizations within the Park.

The activity began with opening remarks by Lucila Arboleya, President of LATU, followed by the first talk delivered by the Rector of the University of Montevideo, Alejandro Cid.

Cid presented the UM's trajectory and emphasized the importance of being part of LATU's Innovation Park community, highlighting the value of linking education, academia, and graduates with the professional world in innovative sectors.

Following this, Andrés Abin, Director of ATGen, a biotechnology company that has been in the Park for over 10 years, took the floor. He detailed the company's development, from its founding in 2001 by four scientists who graduated from the Faculty of Sciences, to its consolidation as a sector leader.

To conclude the event, Francisco O'Reilly, a philosopher and Dean of the UM Faculty of Humanities and Education, gave a lecture titled "Change and I: Having an Identity in the Era of Innovation". Drawing on philosophy, he explored the nature of change processes throughout history and the different ways they have been conceived, inviting attendees to reflect on the topic.
