500 Startups began its workshops in Montevideo

On October 17th, the pre-acceleration program 500 Montevideo started working with 20 Uruguayan companies capable of driving innovation.

With the objective of deepening the connections and opportunities between 500 Startups and companies based in Montevideo and the region, #500Montevideo will provide mentoring sessions and workshops to the 20 selected participants. It will also provide investors connections and business partners.

The selection criteria involved the personality of the founders (e.g., strong character), the dedication to the project, the future expansion and the potential revenue. In addition, one of the main requirements was that the startups were at the seed or early-growth stage.

During 6 weeks, the entrepreneurs will have access to mentors from the 500 Startups global team and partners, who will share their experience in Silicon Valley, and lectures on marketing, monetization, product design and more, from members of the 500 team and notable guests. Furthermore, they will get pitch training and the possibility to strengthen their networking connections with the biggest entrepreneurial community.

500 Startups Program in Montevideo is supported by the Uruguayan Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU), Uruguayan Agency for Development (ANDE) and the Investment and Export Promotion Institute of Uruguay (Uruguay XXI).

LATU participates in this initiative after founding the first business incubator of Uruguay, Ingenio. Two of the selected projects are related to Ingenio: 1000 Razones (graduate) y Rural (currently at incubation).
